Refund policy

What this policy covers

Checking a vehicle, challan or licence on RTO Buddy is free, so there is nothing to refund. This policy covers RTO Buddy Watch, our paid plan that checks your vehicle every day and alerts you about new challans and expiries. It costs ₹199 per vehicle, for one year at a time. It also covers challans you pay on RTO Buddy. See Challan payments.

Full refund within 7 days

If you change your mind about RTO Buddy Watch, write to us within 7 days of your payment and we will refund it in full, with no questions asked. Your plan stops when the refund is made.

Other times you get a Watch refund

1. Your payment failed, but money was taken

Sometimes money is debited from your account but the payment doesn’t go through, and no plan is started. In this case, the amount is returned to you in full. Most banks and payment apps return it automatically within 5 to 7 working days. If it hasn’t come back after that, please contact us.

2. You were charged more than once

If the same plan was charged twice by mistake, we refund every extra payment in full.

3. We can’t watch your vehicle

If your payment was successful but we can’t start watching your vehicle, for example because its record isn’t available on the government website, we will first try to fix it. If we can’t, we refund your payment in full.

4. We stop the service for your vehicle

If we have to stop watching your vehicle during your plan because of a reason on our side, we refund the full months left in your plan.

Challan payments

Once a challan payment reaches the government, we can’t cancel or refund it. Fines are set by the traffic police or the court, and only they can change them.

You get your money back in full, including any convenience fee, if:

• The payment failed, but money was taken from your account.
• You were charged twice for the same challan.
• The challan was already paid or closed, so your payment didn’t go through.

If a challan you paid still shows as pending after a few working days, write to us with your receipt and we will follow it up.

Gave us the wrong vehicle number?

If you entered the wrong vehicle number, tell us within 7 days of paying and we will move your plan to the right vehicle for free.

When we can’t give a refund

After the first 7 days, we can’t refund RTO Buddy Watch if:

• You changed your mind, sold the vehicle or no longer need the plan.
• You entered a wrong vehicle number or licence details and didn’t tell us in time.
• You’re not happy with what the government record says. We show records as they are and can’t change them.
• An alert was late or missed because a government website was slow or unavailable.
• You got a challan or fine, or a document expired. Paying challans and renewing documents is up to you.

You can still stop your plan at any time. It stays active until the end of the year you paid for, but the time left isn’t refunded. See our Terms of use for more.

How to ask for a refund

Write to us at rto.buddy@digivill.tech, or use our contact form and choose “Payment or refund”. Please include:

• Your name, and the WhatsApp number or email you used.
• The vehicle number, and the challan number if it’s a challan payment.
• The date and amount of the payment.
• The transaction ID or UTR number from your bank or payment app.
• A screenshot of the payment, if you have one.

How long a refund takes

We reply to refund requests within 2 working days. Once a refund is approved, it is sent back to the same payment method you used, such as your UPI account, card or bank. It usually reaches you within 5 to 7 working days, depending on your bank.
