Privacy policy

Last updated 28 October 2026

The short version

  • We only ask for what we need to check vehicle records, send your alerts and reply to you.
  • We never sell your information to anyone.
  • The vehicle numbers you check or watch are never shared with advertisers, dealers or anyone else.
  • You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time.

Who we are

RTO Buddy is a product of DIGIVILL TECH, based in Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, India. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean RTO Buddy and DIGIVILL TECH. “You” means anyone who uses our website or services.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it and how we keep it safe, in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

Information you give us

  • Contact details: your name, email address and, if you choose to share it, your phone or WhatsApp number.
  • Your vehicles: the vehicle numbers you ask us to watch, and your driving licence number and date of birth if you want licence alerts.
  • Challan payments: the vehicle and challan numbers of the challans you pay, and your payment receipt.
  • Free check details: the vehicle, challan or licence details you enter in our free checks. See Free checks.
  • Messages: anything you write to us through the contact form, by email or on WhatsApp.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic technical details such as your browser type, device and the pages you visit, used to keep the website working and secure.
  • Cookies the website needs to work. See Cookies.

Vehicle records are public

The vehicle, challan and licence records we show come from official government transport websites. We show them as they are there. We don’t create, change or correct any government record.

Owner names are shown partly hidden, to protect the owner’s privacy. If a record is wrong, only your RTO or the office that issued it can correct it.

Free checks

Our free checks look up a vehicle, a challan or a driving licence on the official government transport websites and show you the details. You don’t need to sign up or give your name, phone number or email to use them.

What you enter

Only what is needed to find the record: the vehicle number, the challan number, or the driving licence number and date of birth.

How it works

When you press Check now, our server asks the official website for that record, reads the reply and shows you the details. The record comes from the government’s website, not from us. We don’t change it, and we can’t correct it. See Vehicle records are public.

What we keep

  • Your free checks: we don’t save the vehicle numbers, licence numbers or dates of birth you enter, or the records we show you. They are not linked to your contact details or payments.
  • Vehicles you ask us to watch: if you add a vehicle to RTO Buddy Watch, we keep its number, and your licence details if you add them, so we can check them every day.
  • Challans you pay: we keep the vehicle number, challan number and receipt, so we can confirm the payment and help if something goes wrong.
  • Technical logs: we record which official page was requested, when, and whether it worked, so we can fix problems. These logs don’t include the numbers you enter or the details in a record.

Your requests pass through our own servers and the hosting and network providers that connect us to the official websites. They are never sold or shared with anyone else.

How we use your information

  • To look up vehicle, challan and licence records and show them to you.
  • To watch the vehicles you choose and send you alerts on WhatsApp or email.
  • To reply to your questions and support requests.
  • To pay the challans you choose, process payments and send you receipts.
  • To keep our website safe and prevent misuse.
  • To improve our service, using combined information that doesn’t identify you.

We only use your information for these purposes, and only with your consent where the law requires it.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We only share it with trusted service providers who help us run RTO Buddy, such as our website host, email provider, WhatsApp messaging provider and payment partner. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

We may also share information if the law requires it, for example when asked by a court or government authority.

When you pay a challan, we send its vehicle and challan numbers to our payment partner and the government’s challan system, so the payment reaches the right challan. Apart from that, we do not share your details with RTOs, traffic police, insurers, dealers or agents.

Payments

Payments for RTO Buddy Watch and for challans are handled by our authorised payment partners. We never see or store your full card, UPI or bank details. We only receive a confirmation that your payment was successful.

Storage and security

Your information is stored on secure servers and protected with encryption and restricted access. Only people who need it to help you can see it.

No website can be completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information and will tell you if a data breach affects you.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it to provide our service, answer your questions or meet legal and tax requirements. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

Your rights

Under Indian law, you have the right to:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete your information.
  • Withdraw your consent at any time.
  • Raise a complaint with us, and with the Data Protection Board of India if you are not satisfied.

To use any of these rights, write to us at rto.buddy@digivill.tech.

Cookies

Cookies are small files saved on your device when you visit a website. We only use the cookies the website needs, for example to protect our contact form from spam. We don’t show ads and don’t use advertising cookies.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you do, some parts of the website, like the contact form, may not work.
