What challan status means
Each challan shows one of these.
Pay on time. Unpaid challans can go to court, and can hold up selling your vehicle.
- Pending Not paid yet. You can pay it online.
- Paid Settled. Keep the receipt.
- In court Sent to a court, often after it stayed unpaid. Pay or contest it in the virtual court.
Spot a fake challan
Scam messages copy real challans to take your money.
- Never open links or install apps sent by SMS or WhatsApp.
- Check the challan yourself, here or on the official e-challan website.
- Pay only on a site you opened yourself, not from a message.
- Never share an OTP to ‘cancel’ or ‘settle’ a challan.

What is an e-challan?
A traffic fine issued electronically, by the traffic police or a camera. It is linked to the vehicle number, so it reaches the owner.
Is RTO Buddy the official e-challan website?
No. RTO Buddy is an independent service. You can check and pay challans here, and the fine goes to the government.
How do I pay a challan here?
Check your vehicle, choose the challans and pay online. You get a receipt, and the challan shows as paid once the government updates it.
My challan is wrong. Can I contest it?
Yes, with the traffic police or the court. We can’t cancel or reduce a fine. See Virtual court.
Is it free to check?
Yes. Checking challans is free and needs no sign-up.
